What brought you to Humber and your program of study?
What brought me to Humber was my need for more knowledge in the medical field to help patients at a higher level; when I applied to the RN program, I was already an LPN.
What was your favourite Humber memory or experience?
Hearing and detecting an actual heart murmur in a sim lab during clinical skills testing while taking the Emergency program.
What was Humber's greatest impact on your personal and professional life?
My degree and becoming an RN have afforded me the opportunity to work in 4 countries and across the USA.
What are you up to now?
I left Canada to work in Saudi Arabia as a Trauma Emergency RN. I left there after 14 months of employment and entered the USA through Texas to become an American citizen. Since then, I have been an RN all over the USA and have also lived and worked in Germany.
I am a Board-Certified Trauma ER RN and a Board-Certified Interventional Cardiology RN. I have worked directly with patients as a Legal Nurse Consultant, Director of Risk Management, Quality Management Director, and Corporate Director of Patient Safety, and am currently teaching through the Virginia Governor's Health Sciences Academy.
I also teach and am currently writing the curriculum for a new high school-level medical terminology course. One degree from Humber has taken me a long way.
What else do you want to share (e.g. Memorable trip; If you had a superpower; Favourite food or coffee shop; Personal and professional interests; Awards and recognition; Other milestones)?
I am a diver and have dived in the Atlantic, Mediterranean, Red, Caribbean, Indian, Black, and Andaman Seas.
The awards I have received so far are the Joan of Arc, the Yellow Rose of Texas, the Daisy award, and the Presidential award.
