PETER DUMAS

Hospitality Management - 1986

What brought you to Humber and your program of study?

I was studying Hotel Management at LaSalle College in Montreal, Quebec. I decided to transfer to Humber College in 1986 because I found the school offered more practical studies than the theoretical approach LaSalle College proposed.

What was your favourite Humber memory or experience?

Meeting my soulmate, Helen Kawaja, who was in my program in 1986. I eventually married her in 2015. My dream come true!

What was Humber's greatest impact on your personal and professional life?

It allowed me to study intensively and secure a U.S. Scholarship at the Walt Disney World Cultural Representative position in Orlando, Florida.

What are you up to now?

After working at Walt Disney World, Air Canada, and on a TV series on NBC, and owning my own business for 24 years, I officially retired at the age of 56 in 2021.

What else do you want to share (e.g. Memorable trip; If you had a superpower; Favourite food or coffee shop; Personal and professional interests; Awards and recognition; Other milestones)?

Living in Orlando allowed me to appear on a TV show called SeaQuest DSV. I was on the second season with Roy Scheider (Jaws movies). The show was on NBC from 1993 to 1995. An experience I will never forget and cherish forever.
