PATRICK LUCERO

Advertising and Graphic Design - 2003

What brought you to Humber and your program of study?

When exploring my post-secondary options, Humber’s Advertising & Graphic Design program stood out to me. The curriculum, hands-on approach, and industry-focused learning made it an easy choice. I was fortunate to be one of only six students accepted into the program directly from high school, which was both an exciting opportunity and a challenge I was eager to take on.

What was your favourite Humber memory or experience?

One of the highlights of my time at Humber was having the opportunity to study at both the North and Lakeshore campuses. The faculty brought a wealth of real-world experience from various industries, giving me invaluable insight into the many career paths available in advertising and design. Their guidance and expertise broadened my understanding of the industry and helped shape my professional journey.

What was Humber's greatest impact on your personal and professional life?

Humber laid the foundation for my career and gave me the tools to succeed in the fast-paced world of creative marketing. At the time, the Advertising & Graphic Design program was a three-year curriculum condensed into two, making it both intense and rewarding. The workload was demanding, and I spent countless late nights in print shops and campus facilities. That experience taught me the importance of organization, prioritization, and perseverance—skills that continue to be instrumental in my career today.

What are you up to now?

In late 2024, I took on a new role as the Global Creative Production Lead at Rakuten Kobo. In just four months, I’ve onboarded a new agency for creative production, played a key role in leading a brand refresh—including digital and retail strategies for gift cards, displays, and digital advertising—and implemented several process improvements. It’s been an exciting challenge, and I’m looking forward to continuing to push creative excellence in this role.

What else do you want to share (e.g. Memorable trip; If you had a superpower; Favourite food or coffee shop; Personal and professional interests; Awards and recognition; Other milestones)?

I’d like to take a moment to thank the Humber Alumni team for their dedication to keeping graduates connected and engaged. The level of investment in this program is truly impressive, and I appreciate the effort that goes into fostering such a strong alumni community. Keep up the great work!
