JESSICA HAN (she/her)

Nursing, Bachelor of Science - 2023

What brought you to Humber and your program of study?

I entered the Bachelor of Nursing program at Humber straight from high school. I have always wanted to work in healthcare and a helping profession to positively impact those I work with. Volunteering at Holland Bloorview and seeing how the nurses interact with patients was what led me to pursue nursing as a career.

What was your favourite Humber memory or experience?

My favourite Humber experience was spending time in the cadaver lab after learning anatomy and physiology in my first year. Being able to witness and hold the real anatomical structures that were covered in lectures was an incredible experience. The entire Biology department was fantastic and instrumental in teaching me the foundational knowledge for my nursing practice.

What was Humber's greatest impact on your personal and professional life?

Humber's greatest impact on my professional life was providing me with the knowledge and training to be a competent and safe nurse. My final consolidation in the NICU helped me land my dream job as a new grad. On a personal level, Humber's generous renewable scholarship allowed me to focus on my studies and clinicals without worrying about finances, and to graduate debt-free.

What are you up to now?

I have been lucky to have numerous opportunities and experiences since graduating. As a new grad, I started in the NICU, and since then, I've worked in care coordination, concierge nursing, and resort nursing. I currently work at a CHC as a primary care nurse.

What else do you want to share (e.g. Memorable trip; If you had a superpower; Favourite food or coffee shop; Personal and professional interests; Awards and recognition; Other milestones)?

The opportunities with nursing are endless, and never be afraid to explore, you never know what's waiting for you!
