What brought you to Humber and your program of study?
I chose to study at Humber because I wanted to enroll in a competitive program at a reputable school. I loved the focus of hands-on, industry-relevant and led learning. I am proud to say that I graduated from this program and really believe that it prepares students for success.
What was your favourite Humber memory or experience?
The friendships I made, and that last day of cooking class with Professor Theyer—he truly was the best professor—are memories I’ll always hold onto. All the volunteering I did with my best friend, Elaine, also played a huge role in shaping my path. It was at one of those events, where I was selling raffle tickets, that I made the connections that eventually led to my first job at the Four Seasons. Even before that, I’d been hired for the season straight out of the Humber Room by the Country Club manager at the time.
What was Humber's greatest impact on your personal and professional life?
The greatest impact college had on me was the connections I made and the discipline I developed—working hard and seeing myself be rewarded for it. I’ll always carry the memories of going out to the Pub, building friendships, and forming relationships that will forever stay in my heart. Working hard but also enjoying all the social aspects of the school
What are you up to now?
I am the Associate Director, Sales and Community Engagement with McMichael Canadian Art Collection. I am also the Chair of the Central Counties Tourism Board. I sit on Committees, including as Vice-Chair of the Creative and Cultural Industries Advisory Committee in Vaughan, where the Mayor of Vaughan is the Chair.
What else do you want to share (e.g. Memorable trip; If you had a superpower; Favourite food or coffee shop; Personal and professional interests; Awards and recognition; Other milestones)?
In 2025, I was awarded the Colonel Don Dailley Lifetime Achievement Award by Attractions Ontario, and in 2022, I was awarded the Future Leader of the Year Award by MPI Toronto.
I love to balance my work and personal life, proud mom of two young men and a grandmother to my adorable grandson.
I was honoured to return to Humber in 2025 to speak in a Tourism class that was being taught by my good friend Sandra Monitz. I loved teaching and would love the opportunity to share my journey with students one day.
